GITmaxed includes every feature of GitHub Desktop plus multi-account capabilities that no official build offers. This page lists the complete feature set so you know exactly what the application does before installing it.
Multi-account features (exclusive to GITmaxed)
- Add any number of GitHub.com accounts — no "existing account" warning, no limit warnings, no sign-out required to add another.
- Per-account credential storage — each account keeps its own OAuth token; tokens never overwrite each other.
- Per-repository account assignment — a picker in the Changes sidebar lets you choose which account a repository uses; the choice is remembered.
- Automatic folder-based assignment — repositories stored inside an account's folder are auto-assigned to that account.
- Credential routing — authentication for fetch, push, and clone is handled by the account assigned to that repository, automatically.
Core Git features (inherited from GitHub Desktop)
- Clone, add, and create repositories
- Commit with staging of whole files or individual lines and hunks
- Push, pull, fetch with one click
- Branch create, delete, rename, merge, rebase
- Pull request creation and browsing for GitHub.com
- Commit history graph with search
- Diff viewer with syntax highlighting
- Simple branch-switching workflow with drag-and-drop file handling
- Repository list with filtering and grouping
- "Open in Command Prompt / PowerShell / external tools" integration
- Git LFS support
- Keyboard shortcuts identical to GitHub Desktop
- Dark and light themes, plus Appearance settings (including keeping the worktree toolbar segment always visible)
Quality-of-life features
- Owner subfolder on clone — repositories land in a folder named after the owning account, keeping disk organized automatically
- Consistent GITmaxed branding — window titles, menus, dialogs, notifications, and installer all show GITmaxed
- Smart updater — silent when current, clear update window when a newer release is published
- Notifications for push/pull results, with readable success/failure iconography in the checks summary
